FAQs
Do you take insurance?
No. Typically, couple’s and family therapy is not covered by insurance when billed correctly. It is common practice to bill couple’s or family therapy under one individual and an ICD-10 diagnosis, which is a form of insurance fraud. For that reason among others, we are not in-network with any insurances.
If you are open to receiving an ICD-10 diagnosis, a super-bill (a medical receipt) can be provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement. This means you still pay for services up front, then you submit your super-bill to your insurance and they may reimburse you directly for a portion of the cost you pay.
Do you offer evening appointments?
Currently we do not offer any evening or weekend appointments. Appointments can be made Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am - 3pm. Just like you, therapists often have families, homes, and other obligations outside of career duties that may influence the times we are available for you. Currently the client base will often find time during lunch breaks or flex their schedules to make scheduling therapy work for them.
Can I call you if I am in crisis or we are having a bad argument?
I am available for sessions during business hours, when my individuals or couples are in crisis it always helps to reach out incase I have any last-minute openings. I will always do what I can to schedule you in the next available opening, which may not be day-of. If you call or text me on weekends or nights, even if you are in crisis, I will not respond until I return to my office. My work cell number is exactly that - a work cell and I am not on it after hours. There are programs available to you for crisis intervention, like 988 and 211 which is free crisis support 24/7.
It is a major ethical concern for a therapist to be available 24/7 since we are all human and need to sleep, eat, and take care of ourselves and families in order to be functional and effective practitioners during session.
Is there a fee if I cancel?
For a late cancellation or no-show, yes. For a cancellation made before the late period, no - of course not. Practice policies outline the need for Two business day’s notice to cancel in order to allow the practice to offer that time to others in need. It is often a misuse of clinical time to take up a spot on the schedule and then not use it, which is why there is a fee for no-shows or late-cancels. There is also a waitlist for services, and others are eager for the ability to be serviced.
Do you offer in-person visits?
Yes! On Tuesdays only, in-person visits are available in the East Greenwich office which you can see at the bottom of the page :)
